ArchiCAD Tip - Insulation Representation, Part 2

There are two ways to achieve the representation of insulation in Floor Plan & Section - the newer 'composite-based' method is outlined below.

In ArchiCAD 14, there is a fill pattern called "Insulation 01" (NOT "Insulation") which can be used in a composite buildup/setup to automatically represent insulation.
NOTE: If you do not have the 'Insulation 01' fill pattern available in your ArchiCAD project, then

To incorporate this special fill pattern into any existing Composite:

  1. Goto Options > Element Attributes > Composites
  2. Choose the specific composite into which you want the special Insulation to be used.
  3. Click on whichever skin is to be classed as Insulation
  4. In the 'Edit Selected Item' panel
    • Choose the 'Insulation 01' fill from the list (found in the Symbol fills section of the list)

    • Choose the Skin Orientation to be "Fit to Skin"

  5. Click OK to confirm the Composite definition
  6. Goto the Wall tool and use that composite in the placement of a wall

(A resulting wall set is shown below)
